Been working super hard and I wanna know what is the best (preferably european) vehicle under 30k right now? I use to religiously follow this blog and almost all the other sites to be up to date about this info. I have a certain soft spot for the e92 M3. But I just need a reliable fast car under the 3ok mark.

TIA.

sub-30k, reliable, fast, and european? good luck with that.

my gut is that it’s a “pick 3" situation.

I think Gen 2 CTS-Vs are around $30k now. Would 556 horsepower with a reliable-as-gravity LS V8 do it for you?

I've got a 2012 S4 6mt that books just under 30k. Impeccable condition. 75k miles. It's been dead reliable thus far.

Mk7 GTI with the Performance Pack can be had for around 30k new I think. It’s not hugely powerful, but quick enough (+ a simple tune brings you above 300hp), and the diff is magical. Get the driver’s assistance package and DSG, and you’ve got the perfect traffic jam car (adaptive cruise going from 100-0-100 without you having to touch the pedals), or get a manual and have the quintessential hot hatch.

G8 GXP if you can find one. RWD 6 speed V8.

Might not be the answer you want to hear, but a well maintained low mileage C5 Corvette or 986 Boxster S for $15k and save the other $15k for something other than buying a depreciating asset.

I won’t be driving for another couple years (college) but I would absolutely love to do an S4 of that generation when I get out, provided I can swing it financially.

Also figured I’d let you know that I didn’t remove that post with the “nice driving” video because I disagreed with you; quite the opposite. I realized that it was kind of a pointless and silly video anyway, and that I was still driving like kind of a goofball (those clips were from when I first started driving!)

Spend 15-20k on something sporty and Japanese and save the rest for when you can truly afford to own & maintain the M3 you desire. It’s worth the wait!
